"Snap"
Oil on panel 9x12
SOLD

It is 1914, and World War I is about to break out in Europe, but in Wyoming the night is clear and still, and a hunter is relaxed around his campfire enjoying a bowl of tobacco. However, this peaceful night is soon to change. The silence of the night is broken by the snap of a twig, the hunter responds to the sound but does not know its source. Soon he will and the gun at his side will be put into service, as a fight for survival will ensue with the approaching grizzly.
I enjoy painting moonlight and the way it plays on things. The campfire and the oil lamp contrast nicely with this other wise cool scene.
