"The Plan"
Oil on panel 18x24
SOLD

It is 1906 and an early white hunter in British East Africa, perhaps Alan Black (regarded by many as the very first person to be called a white hunter) is discussing his plan with a client. As they plot their safari, which may last several months, supplies are being unloaded and the oxen are being watered. Newland and Talton had started the first professional safari outfitters some two years earlier in Nairobi, so the outfitter for this safari could well be N&T. M’pishis (cooks) are cleaning their pans, and wood has been gathered for a fire. The remains of an earlier fire in the foreground tell you that this site has been used before as a safari camp.
Tomorrow the hunters, their trackers and gun-bearers will embark on the first leg of their safari and put “The Plan” into action.
